13th of July, 2014

Paris, 13th of July, 2014

Dear friends,

After having performed Macbeth by William Shakespeare 64 times between the 2nd of May and the 13th of July, we will perform a second season, opening on the 8th of October 2014.

Once again, we will thank the theatre gods for having granted our prayers and other magical practices, and as such kept at bay the dangers sometimes known to befall “The Scottish Play”.

Above all, we thank them for your attendance.
32 444 times.
For it is more than a lucky sequence of numbers; 32, 444 of you have already come to see us this spring.

For this we are proud, meaning that we are very conscious of our good fortune... to have you! Particularly when you arrive, as often happens, sometimes even before the doors open, with your entire family, or with friends, your loved ones, all together.
As for all of the rest of you (how many of you are there, in fact?), those of you who are awaiting the next run, you can already reserve your seats for October and November. Our box office will be fully open until the 18th of July, and then as of the 5th of September.

In autumn, we will also be waiting for you, hopefully many of you, to continue with us to peel through the little
Anniversary year Almanac of “Our First 50 Years”.

Wherein, as you know, until the 29th of May, 2015, we propose to you a calendar brimming with dancing, musical, theatrical and otherwise spectacular festivities.

Here are the first perfomances:

- the 26th, 27th et 28th of September 2014: in collaboration with Arta, la Maison des Cultures du Monde, and The Cultural Centre of Taiwan in Paris, we will host three exceptional performances of Shakespeare’s King Lear, performed, alone on stage, by Wu-Hsing Kuo, our great friend and great actor from Taiwan.

- from the 25th of September to the 19th of October 2014: in collaboration with the theatre Epée de Bois, we will host a troupe of young actors from Bolivia performing Les Égarés du Chaco, based on La Lagune H3 d’Adolfo Costa du Rels, adapted by Arlette Namiand, and directed by Jean-Paul Wenzel.

- from the 19th of November to the 28th of December 2014: l’Instant d’une Résonnance will present their latest creation Mataroa, la mémoire trouée with a group of Greek actors directed by Hélène Cinque.

But before leaving for the summer break,
from the 16th to the 19th of July, come and take a trip with le Bus du Caravansérail !

This courageous group of active and heart-warmingly passionate artists will install their documentary video Fenêtre sur l'autre, outside, in the Cartoucherie grounds.

Other events will come to punctuate this “ephemeral anniversary”, and soon we shall write to you with more details. Until then, we wish you a wonderful summer.

Take care of yourselves,

See you soon,

The Théâtre du Soleil
