Santiago, Chili, January 6th 2012
Dear friends,
We finished 2011 in high spirits with the Brazilian run of Les Naufragés, in Sao Paulo (hosted by our friends at SESC,) Rio de Janeiro and [Porto Alegre ->1386].
It is in Santiago in Chili where we are now performing - at the Santiago a Mil Festival : the run continues until January 23rd 2012 – and it is here – in the heat of summer! - that we enter 2012 which we hope will be a year of hope and positive change for all.
This year...
As soon as we return to France, we will be opening our arms wide to greet our friends from the
Odin Teatret, who will be performing their latest production,
La vie chronique, in our theatre as you may already know, from 8th-19th February 2012. We are delighted to be welcoming this our twin troupe, born like the Théâtre du Soleil one fine day in 1964. After
Mythos and Ode to progress in 2000 and
Andersen’s Dream and Salt in 2005, the Odin continues to question the destiny of the contemporary world, examining Europe in particular and its sometimes very sombre past. Hurry up and book your tickets because the theatre can only accommodate 120 a night and there will be just ten performances! Eugenio Barba will also be leading a
workshop (stage) at Arta as part of odin's very special tour to France.
We will also continue to support young kindred ttheatre troupes throughout the coming year. Two of these young companies will restage the productions that they created in our theatre last year:
-
TAF Théâtre presents Ödon von Horváth 's
Tales from the Vienna woods directed by Alexandre Zloto, from Janaury 13th – February 5th 2012.
-
L’Instant d’une Résonance will perform Shakespeare's
Cymbeline, directed by Hélène Cinque, from March 8th to April 29th 2012.
And soon we will be letting you know more about
Lorialets eand the adventure of Notre Commune which will take place during April at the Théâtre du Chaudron, as well as about the ninth
Premiers Pas festival taking place next Autumn and
Théâtre Majaz's new production,
Les Optimistes.
As for our own Naufragés du Fol Espoir :
- The international tour has not yet ended. We will be performing in May in Vienna at the
Wiener Festwochen).
- And as for our film, filming has not yet ended either. We will begin filming again – in our own artisanal way – in April, thanks to the means that we have acquired from our very generous “subscribers”, and we then hope to complete filming with the full “ciné-theatre” team from 6th June to 11th July.
If you still wish to participate in the wonderful and necessary common effort to create this film, and become a 'Great Subscriber', you are still very welcome – please join the Subscription Programme today!
Best wishes and see you soon,
Théâtre du Soleil
