12th May 2012

Paris, 12th May 2012

Dear friends,

Here in Paris the sky is bright and our adventures continue.

Our film:

We will finish filming our adaptation of Les Naufragés du Fol Espoir (Aurores) between 11th June and 6th July with the full 'ciné-theatre' crew on board. This is thanks to the absolutely indispensable and resolute support of our friends from SESC São Paulo* and undeniable support from ARTE as well.

Please note that if you still wish to participate in the wonderful and necessary common effort to create this film and become a 'Great Subscriber', it is still possible to do so, and you are still, of course, very welcome to do so - please sign up and join the Subscription Programme today !

Les Naufragés on tour:

The final performances of Les Naufragés du Fol Espoir are drawing near. After 188 performances in Paris and 90 on tour, we will – if the winds are blowing in our favour – be celebrating our 290th and very last performance in Edinburgh on 28th August 2012.

Before that and from 20th-28th May, we will be in Vienna (Austria) for the Wiener Festwochen. It is the fourth time that we have been invited to this festival, after Les Atrides in 1992, Le Tartuffe and La Ville parjure in 1995, and Les Éphémères in 2008.

Then, twenty years after our last visit – which was to Bradford in 1992 with Les Atrides - we will be performing in Great Britain. We will be in Scotland from 23th-28th August, invited for the very first time by the International Edinburgh Festival.

News of our friends and companions, at the Cartoucherie and elsewhere…

Our friends, Les Lorialets, who performed their play Notre Commune, histoire méconnue racontée sur un char from 5th-15th April in the open air and under the Cartoucherie's plane-trees, will soon be back under those same trees with this great outdoor performance.

The travelling Aftaab Theatre will be performing two plays from their repertoire, both directed by Hélène Cinque, as part of the Paris quartier d’été Festival. They will be performing their collectively-devised production Ce jour-là (On that day), which you may have seen back in 2009 at the Théâtre de l’Aquarium, as well as The Miser, which will have its Parisian première this summer. Performances will take place from 14th-25th July at Théâtre 13.

Many other projects await us after the summer and we will let you know more about them very soon.

In the meantime, please remember – indeed, let us all remember – to go out and vote (again). Here's hoping that Justice remains (again and always) on our side.

See you very soon,

Le Théâtre du Soleil
